Leaving Records All Genre

Leaving Records is a Los Angeles-based All Genre zone with a primary focus on uplifting experimental voices. Beginning as a music blog established in 2008, and launched as a craft cassette label in 2009 by artists MatthewDavid and Jesselisa Twine - Leaving acknowledges early support from dublab, Alpha Pup, and Poobah. From Nov 2012 - Dec 2020 Leaving was distributed by Stones Throw. Leaving Records is currently independently operated identifying & experimenting with an array of aligned parternships as they best serve our vision of community empowerment and equity.

The label has released music by Julia Holter, Laraaji, Bauhaus, Sam Gendel, Sam Wilkes, Green-House, Ana Roxanne, William Tyler, Arushi Jain, Zeroh, Ras G, Colloboh, Odd Nosdam, Sun Araw, Matthewdavid, and more.

From 2018 - 2022 Leaving has curated volunteer-ran, donations-based, open to the public, all ages concerts at North Eastern Los Angeles art park La Tierra de la Culebra - a rare local LA zone founded on principles of neighborhood activation + community organizing. _ From Summer 2022 to present, our events are supported by Floating, and most of the time held at Montecillo de Leo Politi in Elysian Park, Los Angeles.

During the onset of Covid19 quarantine in March 2020 Leaving moved the series virtually into a recurring live streaming event via our Twitch channel. You can watch and listen to a selection of archived sets at twitch.tv/leavingrecords.
