“I enter this chapter with a reverent curiosity toward the Divine. This song carries a devotional longing, a reaching toward love beyond identity, almost like a blueprint for what might be possible. It feels like an offering from the oldest part of me to the part still brave enough to love.” -APNI

Released under her sonic persona APNI, multimedia artist and composer Surabhi Saraf presents a devotional ambient interpretation of the Sufi song “Yaar Vekho” . Rooted in her training in Hindustani classical music and shaped by years of work across experimental sound and performance, APNI enters the song through deep listening.

Known for building choral landscapes from layered voice and long-form tonal environments, APNI expands her palette in this release through collaboration. Resting on a living electronic tone field shaped by Matthewdavid McQueen, the composition carries a subtle cosmic instability beneath its sustained harmonics while Stuart Bogie’s clarinet moves through the piece as a drifting melodic countercurrent. Together they open a more fluid and improvisatory dimension within APNI’s evolving sound world.

At the heart of Yaar Vekho is a river crossing, a movement toward love beyond fixed identity. APNI inhabits this passage as a witness, letting the song’s devotional current guide the unfolding composition. The gesture resonates with her ongoing mythic world-building, where voice becomes a way of shaping new relational worlds.

This single follows her recent EP APNI: a spell for many selves, tracing the emergence of a voice calling itself into being through oceanic drones, rhythmic chant, and luminous tonal expansion. With Yaar Vekho, APNI turns toward devotional song as both inheritance and proposition for a dream of connection insistently sung.
