Baltimore’s multidisciplinary artist BlissArmyKnife debuts on Leaving with self-directed/self-produced 𝒘𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒖𝒑𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆. The artist interwove themselves within the Los Angeles music community around 2022 through working various Leaving Records park shows while living in LA - ultimately befriending LR founderperson Matthewdavid and becoming his favorite painter. Initially introduced as poet/rapper/producer, they now embody a sample-based sonic signature through an androgynous musical persona that speaks to hip-hop tendencies and ear-worm song quirk.

“The only lyrics of this song are ‘wish I could make up all the time I lost dreaming’ repeated and layered with overlapping vocals. I think the way it is delivered helps capture a dreamlike quality. I feel like I wanted to unpack the notion that me living inside my head so much has probably interrupted me from experiencing life more fully and with a greater sense of presence. I think that idea also speaks to my trials with love, and so as I’m getting older - I feel like I’m asking myself questions like ‘how can I take advantage of this opportunity we call life’, ‘how can I embody presence more?’. I really have been reflecting on what might I have missed out on just out of fear or overthinking? It's a hard pill to swallow tbh.” -BlissArmyKnife
